Think Pinker
GAVLAK Gallery

Los Angeles, California
February 11 – March 25, 2023

Curated by Beth Rudin DeWoody

Thirteen years after the original Think Pink exhibition in Palm Beach, we were thrilled to participate in its vibrant sequel, Think Pinker, curated once again by Beth Rudin DeWoody at Gavlak Gallery—this time in Los Angeles. The show explored the cultural resonance of the color pink, from its playful connotations to its subversive feminist history.

DeWoody wrote, “Pink is bright, fun, and playful—the perfect color to express a more positive, rosy picture of the world today.” Sarah Gavlak added, “Pink has its own rainbow of hues—from light to dark, powder to powerful, bubble gum to shocking Schiaparelli.”

For us, Think Pinker was not only an opportunity to reflect on our earlier collaboration with Beth and Sarah in 2010 but also to revisit and expand our exploration of color, especially pink, through form and memory. The show brought together more than 80 artists working in diverse media, from painting and sculpture to video and installation.

We contributed a pink-hued beaded sculpture—our contribution to a chorus of voices finding meaning in a single color. Positioned among works by artists including Lynda Benglis, David Benjamin Sherry, Pae White, Rachel Lachowicz, and Andy Warhol, our piece joined a broad and inclusive conversation on how pink functions symbolically, emotionally, and politically in the contemporary world.

Participating in Think Pinker was both nostalgic and forward-looking—a joyful return to a shared visual language and a renewed celebration of our community of artists, collectors, and curators who believe in the power of color to communicate emotion, memory, and meaning.
