This exhibition marked a milestone in our careers: it was the first time one of our major museum shows traveled to a second venue.

Originally organized by the Parrish Art Museum in the Hamptons, the exhibition took on new life inside the historic Freedom Tower in downtown Miami.

The Freedom Tower is building often referred to as the "Ellis Island of the South" for Cuban immigrants. The space’s rich cultural resonance added new layers of meaning to our work.

“Our connection to Mary Queen of the Universe School runs deep. Our father and uncle both attended the same school decades earlier. One day when we were in eighth grade, our teacher opened her desk drawer to reveal a ruler etched with our uncle’s name—an unforgettable moment linking us to our story’s lineage and continuity.”

One wall of the museum was painted deep blue; seeing our work set against it transformed the way we experienced the installation.

We collaborated with more than 1,000 community members in Miami through a Scrollathon, bringing together participants of all ages to create a new collaborative masterwork.

The energy was incredible, and the site’s location amplified the themes of memory, community, and personal history embedded in the show.

Mary Queen of the Universe was inspired by our shared experiences at a small Catholic grade school in St. Louis; each piece reflected people and places from that time. In our New York City studio, formative memories were rewoven into an expanded story, joining our pasts to the present. The exhibition celebrated those early influences and honored the long arc of generational storytelling that continues to guide our work.”
