Rise and Shine Cristina Grajales Gallery New York, New York February 10, 2016
Curated by Cristina Grajales
Rise and Shine was Cristina Grajales Gallery’s 2016 winter group exhibition, bringing together works that radiated warmth, light, and material brilliance. We were honored to be included alongside artists working with gleaming cast bronze, lustrous silver, and other radiant materials that explored the poetic and sensory qualities of light.
The show featured work by Alexandra Agudelo, Stefan Bishop, Christophe Côme, Gloria Cortina, Sebastian Errazuriz, Hechizoo, Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, John-Paul Philippe, Tabor & Villalobos, and ourselves. Each piece reflected a reverence for craft and materiality, with textures and surfaces designed to glow, shimmer, or gleam.
For us, this was an opportunity to showcase our own explorations with sheen and reflectivity—how surface and structure can become vessels for memory, emotion, and transformation. As with much of our work, the materials we use carry stories and spirit, becoming luminous portals to the past and glimmers of imagined futures.
