Commission Overview
Jason Meyer, a close friend who had already commissioned earlier works, continued his support of our practice with this beaded cuff. At a time when every commission directly sustained our ability to keep making art, Jason’s commitment carried both personal and artistic meaning.

Artistic Approach
The cuff was woven on a Mirrix loom in a palette of dark, understated tones: matte gunmetal seed beads interspersed with inset stripes of silver, metallic Aurora Borealis, coated blue, and black. The geometry of the loom naturally created straight sides and blunt ends, with bead carriers at each edge attaching the woven strip to silver jump rings on a tubular slide clasp. The result was sleek and moody, an elegant statement in beadwork that balanced restraint with luminosity.

Engagement and Impact
For Jason, the cuff was both a personal adornment and a piece of our world he could carry with him. For us, it was emblematic of how deeply our friends invested in our future—supporting not only with encouragement but also through commissioning work that allowed us to buy materials, pay rent, and keep moving forward in our practice.

Context and Legacy
This cuff belongs to the lineage of our early jewelry commissions, when every work carried both aesthetic ambition and practical survival. Jason’s role was central: he collected because he wanted the work, but also because he believed in us. His support—then and now—helped ensure we could continue to grow our practice, turning intimate commissions like this into stepping stones for larger bodies of work.
