Curated by Beth Rudin DeWoody

Bad For You was one of our rare opportunities to exhibit in London, and we were thrilled to be included in this provocative group exhibition curated by longtime supporter Beth Rudin DeWoody. The show explored contemporary art that spoke to the seductive and destructive power of temptation, rebellion, and indulgence.

Our contribution was a 2012 Grenade Calendar nestled inside a handmade box lined with leftover Ralph Lauren fabric swatches, then stitched with care. Inside the box, hidden beneath the beaded object, was a portion of a deconstructed American flag—a gift from a collector after the flag had fulfilled its functional life. We treated it like a sacred relic, embedding it into the artwork as a kind of Trojan horse—a nod to beauty, violence, nationalism, and concealment.

Beth also produced a beautifully designed, limited-edition catalogue for the show, which included works by artists like Robert Longo, Ed Ruscha, Andy Warhol, Marilyn Minter, and Aurel Schmidt. We still treasure our copy.
